Farmers’ markets are a great success story. They bring communities and farmers together to share the experience of fresh, locally grown food.
Managing a busy provincial association is a challenging business. Members rely on associations to help them be effective and competitive in the marketplace.
So when the BC Association of Farmers’ Markets wanted to ensure it could continue to meet the needs of its members, they asked Realize to help.
The Association wanted to strengthen its management structures, staff capacities and organizational business practices. The organization has been growing over the last 5 years and needed to ensure it continued to manage programs and budgets effectively and strategically.
Realize worked with the Board and senior management to assess the Association’s organizational and administrative structures. We developed a new organizational model, helping to re-balance workloads and capabilities to help the Executive Director and Board have time to focus on key strategic issues. The new model led to a realignment of job functions and more efficient business processes and workflows. We recommended the creation of new positions to strengthen the Association’s communications and member engagement capabilities. We also helped the Board create a long-term vision for the Association’s organizational structure – one that would strengthen its long-term impact and sustainability.
Realize is proud to work with BC’s local food movement, and contribute to the development of healthy, inclusive and resilient local economies.
